Unheard recordings of David Bowie coughing and spluttering will finally be released this July.

The treasury of recordings come from across Bowie’s career – from the illustrious 1966 Laughing Gnome sessions through to studio time for the tumultuous Berlin trilogy.

Salarymen from KPMG Records combed through hundreds of hours of archival recordings from each of Bowie’s albums, combining each sessions’ coughs and hacks into a phlegmatic supercut. Bowie was a heavy smoker during the Ziggy Stardust years, which made for especially rich source material.

KPMG Records financial director Richard Mice told us the new album was “essential listening for any Bowie superfan”. “Bowie’s coughs and splutters bring into stark light the fact that the ethereal spider from Mars was in fact a normal man like any of us – it’s a kind of musical memento mori. Bowie lived, breathed and coughed music, and that musicality really comes across in his wheezes and grunts.”

After 2025’s David Bowie Breathes Heavily unexpectedly reached number 2 in the album charts, record executives at KPMG Records have been clamouring to meet fan demand for unreleased Bowie tracks.

Pre-orders will include a limited edition dumpling squishy

We asked Mice whether he thought the famous perfectionist would be happy with the new release. “Hmm?” he replied, “pardon me? Hmm?” Then he drove off in his Bugatti.
